Below is my new article published in The Conversation today, co-authored with Josh Floyd. The original article can be viewed here. What does your vision of a sustainable future look like? Some people imagine a scenario whereby technology solves the world’s most pressing environmental problems. In this world we all drive electric cars and have solar panels on our roofs that power our air conditioners and flat-screen televisions. We purchase “eco” products that provide all the convenience and comfort but without degrading the planet. We continue consuming and growing our economies, yet Mother Nature wins too. But we would argue that this vision of sustainability is flawed, and will in fact

Wells Fargo Picks the 3 Winners of Autonomous Emergency Braking By Jon C. Ogg March 17, 2016 11:25 am EDT With all the hype about self-driving cars in the years ahead, one area that may start to take off even sooner for consumers and investors alike is the field of vehicle active safety and autonomous emergency braking (AEB). Wells Fargo conducted a non-scientific survey, polling 80 millennials about their willingness and desire to have AEB technology in their cars. This is a small group of course, but they did even get into how much the cost acceptability might be. The would-be winners in the Wells Fargo report are Mobileye N.V.

With both Asia and European markets were in pretty much a waiting station ahead of the FED, so it is probably worth us heading straight to where the action started! Even the events of the UK Budget were almost removed with talks of,  “It could all change come June 23rd anyway” so why get too hot under the collar today! The net result of the Budget for the UK was a negative GBP -0.5% whilst stocks counter-balanced that with a +0.5% rise. Enter the FED.   No change but it was interesting to hear we now have a FED that is globally data dependent! Much discussion about the Taylor Rule and Phillips Curve which may make good TV but

As CEO of the Association of Corporate Counsel (and former in-house lawyer), I take issue with the mischaracterization of the association’s 2015 Chief Legal Officers Survey. While it’s true that the role has evolved, it’s wrong to suggest that chief legal officers (CLOs) are abdicating their responsibility as the company’s legal and regulatory point person. The evolution of the role of general counsel (GC) coincides with the evolving role of CFOs and every other C-suite executive to be more strategically-focused and astute to understand the business and operations. The truth is, most general counsel prize being a confidante and respected member of senior management because increased access enables them to provide

The core belief of the Establishment is the central state should run everything. If you’re an Establishment insider, the mainstream media will give you plenty of column inches and airtime to label Donald Trump a “dangerous” fascist: for example, Democratic insider Robert Reich’s fear-mongering frenzy Donald Trump is a 21st century American fascist, in which Reich conveniently overlooks constitutional limits on any president, “fascist” or not. In effect, Reich is announcing the Constitution is dead and powerless to limit the President. Well, if that’s the problem, then why not attack the real problem, which is the Imperial Presidency? Why not? Reich served an Imperial President as a loyal lackey, that’s why–and
